About Rick Yancey
I'm Rick Yancey, founder and Managing Principal Broker of PrecisionConnect, an independent telecom brokerage based in Menifee, California. I've spent 25-plus years in telecom and technology sales — including roles at AT&T, Spectrum Business, Verizon, and Cingular. I help businesses buy the right internet, phones, and security for what they actually need, and pay less for it. I'm your advisor and point of contact, with a team working alongside me on client accounts. Carriers pay my commission, so you don't.

Why did I start PrecisionConnect?
To help companies get their telecom right. Most business owners have no idea what internet speed they actually need — or what they're paying for, or what it takes to protect their network. Why pay for a 1-gigabit circuit when 50 Mbps is all you need? I started PrecisionConnect to answer questions like that honestly, and at no cost to the business owner.
What I can tell you without a biography: the way this business is set up is deliberate. I don't charge clients because the carrier channel already pays advisors — most business owners just don't know that channel exists. And I lead with the bill audit because it's the fastest way to prove I'm useful before you've risked anything.

What's my background?
Twenty-five-plus years in telecom and technology sales — most of it on the carrier side of the table, which is exactly why I know where the savings hide. No alphabet soup of certifications; just decades of hands-on carrier training and real accounts.

How do I work?
- I listen first. Fifteen minutes on what the business does and what breaks when the phones or internet go down. No pitch.
- Then I measure. A line-by-line bill audit, or a serviceability check if you need new service. Facts before opinions.
- You see every option side by side. Including "keep what you have." I'll tell you which one I'd pick and why, but the comparison is yours to keep either way.
- I stay after the install. Billing disputes, outages, renewals — you call me, not a carrier queue. Your contract end dates go on my calendar, not just yours.

Why work with a local broker instead of calling carriers yourself?
You can absolutely call the carriers yourself. Here's what that costs you: five sales calls instead of one, five versions of "best price" that you have to normalize yourself, and a rep who may be in another state and another job by the time your install has a problem.
A broker flips the arithmetic. One conversation, every serviceable carrier quoted against each other, and one point of contact — backed by a team — accountable afterward. And local matters in this trade — serviceability changes street by street, and I can meet you on-site across Southern California instead of guessing from a call center.
- Independent telecom broker
- An advisor who sells for no single carrier and holds no inventory. Brokers quote multiple competing carriers, are paid commission by whichever one the client picks, and the client's contract is signed directly with the carrier.

Who stands behind the paperwork?
Independent brokers work through a technology services distributor (TSD) — sometimes called a master agency — which holds the formal contracts with the carriers. That's what lets a Menifee-based advisor quote the same portfolio a national consultancy would.
PrecisionConnect works through two of the largest master agencies in the industry — Telarus and ACS Cloud Partners — which together hold contracts with 100+ carriers and providers.
Two things never change regardless of the TSD: your service contract is directly between you and the carrier, and I never bill you. The full model is on How We Get Paid.

Why does modern business networking need an advisor?
Business networking has changed fast over the last 25 years, and the pace hasn't slowed. Network function virtualization (NFV) moved network services into software and cut hardware costs. 5G brought faster speeds and lower latency, which fed the growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Network as a Service (NaaS). Zero-trust security changed how remote access is protected. Today, AI and machine learning help carriers predict problems and automate troubleshooting. Most owners can't track all of this — that's the job we do for you.
What a business network needs to do
- Scale
- Add devices, users, and traffic as the business grows, without a rebuild each time.
- Share resources
- Give staff reliable access to shared files, devices, and cloud applications.
- Support cloud services
- Carry cloud computing, web hosting, and remote access without slowdowns.
- Stay visible
- Show usage trends so you can control cost, tighten security, add redundancy, lower latency, and cut downtime — because downtime costs revenue.

Who's on the PrecisionConnect team?
You talk to Rick — that part never changes. But PrecisionConnect isn't one man with a phone. A team works with Rick behind the scenes on client accounts, so quotes, orders, and carrier follow-up keep moving. One point of contact, more than one set of hands on your account.
Talk to me before you sign anything.
A lease, a renewal, a "limited-time" carrier offer — a second set of eyes is free.
