FAQ-01
What does a telecom broker do?
A telecom broker — the industry also says agent or technology advisor — helps a business buy phone, internet, and network services. We audit what you have now, get quotes from multiple carriers, and manage the paperwork and installation. The carrier you choose pays us a commission. You pay the carrier for service, exactly as if you'd bought direct.
FAQ-02
How much does PrecisionConnect cost?
Nothing. The bill audit is free, the quotes are free, and the install management is free. We never send you an invoice. Carriers pay us a commission when you order service through us — the full model is on How We Get Paid.
FAQ-03
How does PrecisionConnect make money?
Carrier commissions. Every carrier pays independent partners to bring them customers, out of the same sales budget that pays their own reps. When you order through us, we get that commission instead of a direct rep getting it.
FAQ-04
Will my rate be higher if I order through a broker?
No. Carriers price the same whether you buy from their rep or through a partner, and we add no markup or fees. Because we quote several carriers side by side, each one knows you're seeing the competition's numbers — which tends to help your price, not hurt it.
FAQ-05
What is a telecom bill audit?
A line-by-line review of your phone and internet invoices — usually the last three months. We look for billing errors, lines and circuits nobody uses, expired promotional rates, third-party charges you never authorized, and rental fees on equipment you own. You get a written findings report. Details on the audit page.
FAQ-06
What do you need from me to start an audit?
Your last three months of invoices for each phone and internet account the business pays. PDFs, screenshots, or paper copies all work. If you later want us to deal with the carrier for you, we'll ask for a signed Letter of Agency — but the audit itself needs only the bills.
FAQ-07
How long does the audit take?
It depends on how many accounts and locations you have. We'll give you a specific date once we see the invoices.
FAQ-08
What billing errors do you find most often?
Old copper phone lines still billing after the fax machine or alarm was removed; monthly rates that jumped when a promotion expired; third-party "cramming" charges for services nobody ordered; rental fees on equipment the business owns; and circuits still billing at closed or relocated offices. There's a full table on the audit page.
FAQ-09
What is a POTS line, and why did my phone bill go up?
POTS means "plain old telephone service" — an analog line over copper. In 2019 the FCC (Order 19-72) freed carriers from selling copper lines at capped rates, and those protections ended in August 2022. Carriers have been raising POTS prices since, to push customers off copper. Fax machines, fire alarms, and elevator phones are the usual holdouts, and each has a cheaper modern replacement.
FAQ-10
What is a cloud phone system (UCaaS)?
A business phone system that runs over your internet connection instead of a phone closet: desk phones, mobile apps, auto-attendants, and video meetings, billed per user per month. UCaaS stands for "unified communications as a service." It needs a solid internet connection, which is why we check bandwidth before quoting one.
FAQ-11
What's the difference between broadband and dedicated fiber?
Business broadband shares network capacity with your neighbors — cheap, fast downloads, no guarantees. Dedicated fiber (DIA) is a circuit reserved for your business, with symmetric speeds and a service level agreement that pays credits when the carrier misses. There's a side-by-side table on the internet page.
FAQ-12
What is SD-WAN, and do I need it?
SD-WAN manages traffic across two or more internet connections — automatic failover if one dies, smart routing for calls and cloud apps, one dashboard across locations. It earns its keep for multi-site businesses and anyone who can't afford an hour offline. A single small office usually doesn't need it, and we'll say so.
FAQ-13
Which carriers do you work with?
We quote 100+ carriers and providers through two master agencies — Telarus and ACS Cloud Partners. That includes names like AT&T Business, Spectrum Business, Comcast Business, Lumen, Frontier, Zayo, RingCentral, 8x8, and Nextiva, plus many more. Whichever carrier you pick, your contract is directly with them — never with us.
FAQ-14
Do you handle installation and the switch-over?
Yes. We manage the order, coordinate site surveys and install dates, handle phone number porting, and plan the cutover so you're not down during business hours. Afterward we reconcile your first bills against the quoted rates — quoted and billed are not always the same number.
FAQ-15
What if I'm still under contract with my current carrier?
We check your contract end date and any early termination fee, then do the math in the open. Sometimes the right move is waiting out the term; sometimes the savings beat the fee; some carriers offer credits that offset termination costs, depending on the deal. Either way, you see the numbers before deciding — and we calendar your end date so the renewal doesn't sneak past you.
FAQ-16
Can you help locations outside the Inland Empire?
Yes. We're based in Menifee and serve businesses across Southern California — Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, Los Angeles, and San Diego counties — and we support multi-site businesses nationwide. Outside our core area? Ask; we rarely leave a good opportunity on the table.
FAQ-17
We're moving offices. When should we call you?
Before you sign the lease, if at all possible. Internet serviceability varies building to building, and fiber construction can take 30 to 90 days or more. We check candidate addresses free, so internet options can be part of the lease decision instead of a surprise after it. Already signed? Call anyway — there are bridge options.
FAQ-18
What is a Letter of Agency (LOA)?
A one-page authorization that lets us request account records from your carrier and place orders on your behalf. It's standard across the industry, it's scoped to what you approve, it doesn't transfer ownership of anything, and you can revoke it whenever you like.
FAQ-19
Is it safe to send you our invoices?
Your invoices are used for one thing: the audit. We don't sell your information, and nothing is shared with a carrier unless you ask us to engage that carrier for you. Ask and we'll walk you through exactly how records are handled.
FAQ-20
Do you work with home users?
No — PrecisionConnect is business-only. Our clients typically have 5 to 100 employees and one to five locations: medical and dental practices, law firms, accounting firms, property management, light manufacturing, logistics, multi-site retail, and senior care operators.
FAQ-21
What areas do you serve?
We're based in Menifee and serve businesses across Southern California — Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, Los Angeles, and San Diego counties — plus nationwide support for multi-site companies. Our mailing address is 28005 Bradley Road, Suite 105-100, Menifee, CA 92586.
FAQ-22
How do I get started?
- Call or text 951-392-9999, email advisory@getprecisionconnect.com, or use the contact form.
- Send your last three months of invoices for each phone and internet account.
- Get your findings report and decide. Fix, switch, or do nothing — the report is yours either way.
FAQ-23
Can I audit my current bills and set up new service at the same time?
Yes. Many growing businesses do both at once — we map new internet and phone service for an incoming or expanding office while we audit the existing bills to clear out old billing waste. One advisor handles both.
FAQ-24
Will my office lose phone or internet service during a carrier switch?
No. We plan every cutover to run in parallel with your current service. Your new internet and cloud phone system are installed, tested, and confirmed live before we disconnect the old provider — so there's no gap in phones or data during business hours.
FAQ-25
How can an independent broker get better rates than a carrier's own sales rep?
A carrier's retail rep can only sell that one carrier, at that carrier's pricing. Because we quote several carriers against each other, each one knows it's competing for your business — so promotional and market rates surface that a single-carrier rep won't show you. We add no markup of our own.
FAQ-26
Will you contact my current provider during the audit?
No. We don't contact your current carrier at any point during the audit. The review is confidential and uses only the invoices you send us, so your existing service is never touched while we find the savings and lay out your options.
